The Drug Education Forum (DEF) summer event is just one month away but it’s not too late to book! This free online event will take place on Thursday 19th June 2025 15:30 – 17:00, with an additional optional half hour for informal networking in breakout rooms. You can register your place at the event here.
The DEF is a national community of practice launched by the DSM Foundation in February 2024, with sponsorship from the Benefact Group, to mark our tenth anniversary. Since then, it’s been growing and going strong, engaging professionals in range of roles and from organisations across the public and voluntary sectors, and from schools and universities, all with a commitment to evidence-based drug education for all young people.
We’re very much looking forward to hearing our keynote speaker, Prof Owen Bowden-Jones, presenting the findings and recommendations from the soon to be published ACMD Prevention Report. Owen has a wealth of experience and expertise, as consultant addiction psychiatrist at CNWL NHS Foundation Trust, Honorary Professor at University College London, and Chair of the ACMD.
As usual, the event will also feature three short spotlights, featuring Prof Chris Pudney from Bath University sharing research on the prevalence of Spice in vapes, Morgan Moore from Winning Scotland speaking about the implementation of the Icelandic prevention model in Scotland, and Aimee O’Neill who will outline funding and research opportunities through NIHR.
All of our speakers will be involved in the Q&A and panel discussion.
