Speaking engagements
Fiona Spargo-Mabbs OBE, director and founder of the DSM Foundation, is a gifted public speaker and can be booked as a keynote or after-dinner speaker, or for organisations looking for someone to inspire and/or motivate their leaders or staff.
Subjects on which Fiona can speak include the following:
- “A Mother’s Story” (suitable for shorter slots) – an account of how she turned the tragic loss of her 16 year old son from an accidental drug overdose into a charity that delivers drugs education to thousands of young people and the adults in their lives
- “Turning Adversity to Action” (suitable for longer sessions, eg. as part of a corporate away day) – a more in depth description of how the DSM Foundation emerged from heartbreak, with advice on the steps others can take to transform difficulties (however big or small) to accomplishments.
As a recognised expert in – and published author on – young people, drugs and decisions, Fiona is also able to give talks to raise awareness. These can be on the world children and teenagers find themselves in when it comes to substances and what adults can do to support them to make safer choices, and on the reach and impact of the DSM Foundation’s work, which led to her being awarded an OBE for services to young people.
Testimonials
“We were privileged to welcome Fiona to speak at our global leadership conference. Her talk was thoroughly moving and inspiring. Fiona speaks with huge impact, telling her personal story. But she also sheds some fascinating light on the issues behind her tragedy and the real difference her charity is making to face up to them. If you want a speaker who will capture everyone’s attention and inspire then look no further than Fiona.” – Chris Pitt, Group Impact Director at Benefact Group
