I wish I’d known: a parent’s guide to young people, drugs and decisions

We are so excited to announce that Fiona has signed a contract with Hodder and Stoughton for a book for parents to be published next summer. Its working title is ‘I wish I’d known: a parent’s guide to young people, drugs and decisions.’
Not only is Fiona a parent passionate that other parents are better equipped than she was before Dan died, but she also worked with parents for many years before that – she’d taught a class of parents the morning of the day Dan left home that last time. She said, “There are so many things I wish I’d known. The book I’m writing is the book I wish I could have read seven years ago.”
The book is a very practical handbook for parents who want to support their children to make safe choices about drugs in this very different world they inhabit, with a bit of Dan’s story woven into each chapter. There are lots of tips tucked in throughout, and useful references at the end to find more information or support. Basically a parents’ workshop in a book, with a lot more detail, and a lot more story, than there’s ever time for in an evening. And every penny of the advance and royalties will go straight to the Foundation, so we can keep doing more of what we do.
There’ll be lots more book news to follow – we’ll keep you posted!
