February 20th, 2024, saw a very special occasion for the DSM Foundation: an event marking the charity’s 10 year anniversary.
Held at Dan’s secondary school, Archbishop Tenison’s C of E High School in Croydon, the event brought together individuals who have been with the organisation since its inception in 2014, through to those who have come across the drug education charity in the last decade. There was a very special performance of “I Love You, Mum… I Promise I Won’t Die”, the verbatim play written by Mark Wheeller that tells the story of Dan in the words of those who were with him on his last night and knew him best, by Wizard Theatre, the Theatre in Education company currently undertaking a DSM Foundation-commissioned tour of schools in London and the South East. The investment firm Fidelity International was kind enough to financially support this performance.
Award-winning playwright Mark Wheeller was among the speakers at the event, talking to Dan’s drama teacher Izzy Forrester about how #ILYMplay came about and has impacted so many over the years. There were also short presentations on the DSM Foundation’s drugs education workshops, evolving work in Scotland, funding, governance and future plans, all with a focus on the reach and impact that the charity has had and will continue to develop.
It was a very special evening, and some of the content can be viewed as follows:
- An overview of the impact of our drugs education
- How are our work started and has grown in Scotland
- Why our trustees do what they do
- The launch video for the Drugs Education Forum.
