Workplace provision
The DSM Foundation can bring its non-judgemental, evidence-based drug education to workplaces in a variety of ways:
- Live performances or film showings of ‘I Love You, Mum… I Promise I Won’t Die’ by award-winning playwright Mark Wheeller can be arranged. Contact play@dsmfoundation.org.uk for more information.
- Workshops for young adults (18-25 years of age) in the early stages of their careers, either in person or live streamed. These interactive sessions run through the context for young adults when it comes to drugs, and provide advice on staying safe including aspects such as dealing with workplace stress. Contact bookings@dsmfoundation.org.uk for more information.
- “Lunch and learn” sessions for parents and caregivers among the workforce to increase their awareness of the context young people find themselves in when it comes to drugs, and advice on how to get into conversations about this tricky topic, and staying safe advice they can pass on. Please submit enquiries to bookings@dsmfoundation.org.uk.
- Sessions for line managers on supporting younger employees who may be vulnerable to the impacts of alcohol and drug use due to factors such as experiencing workplace (and other) pressures, being in new situations such as workplace entertaining or events, and having more disposable income than they have in the past. Contact bookings@dsmfoundation.org.uk to discuss this further.
Other opportunities are also available, including engaging DSM Foundation founder and director Fiona Spargo-Mabbs OBE as a conference keynote speaker. Click here for more information.
Testimonials from previous early career workshop attendees:
“Very interactive and open space to ask questions… loved how the survey beforehand tailored the workshop itself.”
“Understanding more about each type of drug, such as what they are, how they are taken and the effects, was really insightful.”
“A very good host who led the session well, it flowed well and covered a wide range of very useful topics.”
“It was useful to learn information on how to help others that need help or spot that they need it.”
Testimonials from employees who attended a parent and carer webinar at lunchtime:
“I had no idea how to talk to my children about drugs and now I do – I put my new skills into practice three days later!”
“Genuinely one of the best presentations/workshops I've attended. I could have listened for hours. Walked away having learnt a lot about a subject that scares every parent, but also reassured that things I already do are in the right direction. It gave risks in a really constructive manner, overlaying them with useful advice and ways to learn more.”
“The session was very informative and helped fill some gaps in my understanding. It was definitely worth attending!”
