Fiona’s best-selling book for parents is published

Today is Dan’s 24th birthday, and today the book his mum Fiona wrote for parents was published. ‘I Wish I’d Known’  interweaves the story of one family’s terrible loss with calm, measured and practical advice for parents and carers about young people, drugs and decisions. The official launch event took place last night, with a toast to the book at its start, and to Dan’s birthday at its close.

Hosted by publishers Sheldon Press, guests heard Fiona chatting to Rob Parsons, best-selling author of books for parents, and author of the foreword to ‘I Wish I’d Known’. They also heard from people who’d read the book, including Victoria Derbyshire, Gabby Logan, Dr Suzi Gage and a group of parents from Dan’s hometown in South London, and from teenagers who think parents need to read it. Fiona read a couple of passages from the book itself, and guests asked questions of the author.

An Amazon #1 Bestseller weeks before its publication date (with every penny going to the work of the DSM Foundation), Fiona’s biggest hope – and that of us all – is that this important book with its vital messages will reach parents across the land, and prevent anyone else ever having to say, ‘I wish I’d known’.

Victoria Derbyshire ends her message saying, “Fiona, the book is incredible, you are amazing… and you say in the book, I hope Dan would be proud of me – and I suspect he really would.”
