Fiona and drugs educator Sarah Birkett spent some time chatting to Dr Suzi Gage about drug and alcohol education for one of her Say Why to Drugs podcasts, broadcast in February. Suzi wanted to find out more about the evidence base for effective drug education, why it matters so much that this is done well, and how we put that into practice on a daily basis. Suzi is an academic psychologist and epidemiologist at Liverpool University, and started this really informative, interesting and insightful series of podcasts in order to provide balanced, non-judgmental, intelligent and research-based information about drugs, primarily to young people, but the audience is very broad because they’re an excellent resource for lots of different people, including parents and professionals. Definitely worth a listen. And there’s also a recently published book, Say Why to Drugs, which is definitely worth a read.
