Training and development

What will I gain from being a DSMF YA?

  • Being a YA builds confidence, communication skills and teamwork.
  • It improves understanding of the effects and risks of drugs and skills in managing decisions more safely.
  • Being a YA enables you to make a difference for other young people in your school and in the wider work of DSMF.

As well as undertaking the training provided, YAs must be:

  • Enthusiastic and energetic.
  • Reliable and punctual.
  • Highly motivated to support other young people to make safe choices about alcohol and drugs.

YAs must also have:

  • Good communication skills.
  • A desire to learn and develop new skills.
  • The ability to work well individually and as part of a team.

All of these things will be covered in the DSMF YA programme!
